JULY NEWS

KENT BEER FESTIVAL

Last years summer get-together was the first proper South East Poolies event and took place in the rather expensive, but equally lifeless, Victoria Station area of London. Despite the odds being stacked against us, we managed to have a good day, topped off by a few renditions of Two Little Boys in Wetherspoons (who promptly asked us leave).

This year a little bit more thought, time and consultation has taken place and it has been decided to grace the Kent Beer Festival with our lively presence. Here are the details;

DATE - Saturday July 23rd

COST -  £5 pp Entry, plus beer money

TRAVEL - Free buses run to and from the event from Canterbury City Centre (Bus Station)

TIME - We will be meeting Midday at Canterbury Bus Station, but those that arrive later can get the free bus and meet us at the festival. The festival is open until 9pm, but most members will be in a poor state by then.

OTHER - Please be aware that beers can only be purchased with beer tokens that are sold on the day. We have been informed that these are available in books of £10-£20. This may require people to buy books between them rather than pay out in such large increments. The cost of a pint will apparently be around the £2-3 mark. There will be a large selection of real ales, ciders and imported lagers.

CONTACT - No prior booking is required and more details can be obtained by contacting Stu on 07789 734790. This will also be the contact number on the actual day.

Several members who are attending will be wearing their South East Poolies Polo Shirts which will make them easy to identify. Non-members are welcome.

SOUTH EAST POOLIES MEETING

The MK Dons game is the date for our next SEP Meeting. This will start at 12.30pm and last for around 30 minutes. It will be an opportunity to discuss club issues and for members to find out what is planned for the upcoming season and be more involved with decisions that are made. Non-members are welcome to attend, which will give them an opportunity to find out more information about the SEP. The meeting will take place in the Park Inn which is located near to Bletchley Train Station and serves a cheapish pint and has Sky Sport. HUFC have also offered to send a signed shirt for us to raffle at the meeting, so remember to bring some loose change!

MEMBERSHIP AND SEASON TICKET APPLICATION FORM

Members have been sent a pack containing the following;

• Membership Renewal Forms (where required)
• Membership cards for those that have recently joined or already renewed
• Season Ticket form to apply for the use of the SEP Ticket
• Details of an up-coming event

This should arrive within the next few days.

QUIZ NIGHT WITH G.I.S.C.

The South East Poolies will be competing in a quiz night that the Gillingham FC Independent Supporters Club have kindly invited us to attend. This will take place on the 15th of August at the Brasenose Club, located in Barnsole Road, Gillingham. The club is a 5-10 minute walk from Gillingham Train Station.

If you would like more details on this event, contact Stu on 07789 734790.

The quiz starts at 8.00pm with up to 6 players per team. The cost is £2 per player with prizes will be presented to the winners with prizes also available for the second and final placed teams.
