OLDHAM ATHLETIC 26.12.11

HOW TO GET THERE

CAR
Leave the M62 at Junction 20 and take the A627(M) towards Oldham. Take the second slip road off the A627(M) following the signs for Royton (A663). At the top of the slip road you will find a large roundabout that around it has a McDonalds and a KFC. Turn left at the roundabout onto the A663 towards Royton (beware though of 30mph speed cameras on this stretch). You will be able to see Boundary Park over on your right.

PARKING
There is large gravel car-park at the ground that you can use for around £3.

TRAIN
Don't even think about it on Boxing Day!!!

PUBS/FOOD
A few pubs are located within walking distance and most offer real ales. Here is the pick;

Old Grey Mare- Traditional looking pub popular with home fans, but welcoming to visitors. They are known for looking after their beers well and the pub is a 5 minute walk from the away end.

Clayton Green- A Brewers Fare pub located near to the main stand. These pubs tend to be pretty standard so expect a decent/cheap meal and sterile lager for your money. It won’t offer a typical pre-match atmosphere, but will welcome families.

Chadderton Park Inn- About 10 minutes walk from the ground and part of the Toby Carvery chain. These places offer decent food at cheap prices, but can get very busy. This is a great to visit if you eat like a horse and feel no shame about going up for at least 8 plates full. I would expect the local tubby families to be sat round tables munching in here.

BOUNDARY PARK- Capacity 10,638 ALL-SEATED
The ground has started a redevelopment that may never be finished! As a result only 3 sides are open, which may affect the atmosphere throughout the game.

Away fans are housed in the Rochdale Road End, behind the goal. Between 1,600 and 3,000 seats are allocated and the stand is shared with home supporters. This is by far the best stand in the ground and offers a roof to help make some noise.

To the left is the Main Stand, which is old style stand with a raised seating area complete with a roof. The old paddock to the front has had seats bolted on that offer little protection to the elements.

Opposite is the Chadderton Road Stand, which houses the clubs more vocal supporters. This is a ‘poor mans’ version of the away end, being a covered single tier, seated stand.

SAFETY
Oldham fans are a good bunch and you will have no problems here. The only club they hate is Man Utd, so don’t let your kids wear their Manc tops!
