Hartlepool Trip 2011

Well once again it’s the time of year when we start making plans for the annual trip to Hartlepool. This will the first one since we formed the South East Poolies but this has been an annual tradition for several years now. Last year’s trip was particularly special as we were VIP Guests for the day at the Vic, which was a surprise for those that travelled.

This year’s trip will be open to members and will be the Brentford game on March the 5th. We will be travelling up from Friday morning and, depending on pick-up points, hope to be there for tea-time. We will then travel back from late morning on Sunday.

The cost will be £100 per-person, which includes;

• Return Travel (mini-bus hire, fuel and toll’s)
• 2 nights Bed & Breakfast at the Norton Hotel in Seaton Carew

All money will be placed into a pot to cover the cost of the weekend. Last year everyone paid that same amount, but all received a refund of approx £25 on the Saturday due to lower than expected travel costs. The same will happen this year, so it will not necessarily cost you £100 as you may get a refund on the Saturday. Some of last year’s savings were made on mini-bus hire, but I assure everyone that we will be using a different company this year! It’s fair to say that the mini-bus was cheap for a very good reason and we hope to be able to drive at more than 50mph this year.

The itinerary will be as follows;

FRIDAY

Morning/Afternoon- Travel with a stop for lunch. Please feel free to bring alcoholic refreshments.
Evening- We will be spending the evening at the Corner Flag for a Pool/Darts competition with the H.U.F.C.S.A. You do not have to be a good player to take part as there are some shocking ones who plan to. Be aware that you are welcome to bring your own darts/cue, but will be expected to comfortably win ALL of your games if you do. Also please do not throw any darts on the mini-bus, however funny this seems or drunk you are.

SATURDAY

Morning- Trip to the Club Shop for those that want to buy their new shirts, polo’s, mugs, posters, towels, wall-paper, coasters or handbags, with the club badge of course plashed right across them all. Those that don’t may like to sleep with one eye open or take a refreshing walk along the sea-front.
Afternoon- I believe some people may like to take this opportunity to sample a few pints of the local flavoured waters. As there are a few pubs/clubs that have been helpful since we formed we would like to say thanks by visiting them for a pint in each, but of course you are welcome to visit any usual haunts that you may use. It would be rude not to go to a game whilst we are in town, so all travellers are expected to attend the match, however tempting it is to stay in the pub. Remember you are not here to enjoy yourself, or so you told ‘your lass’.
Evening- I expect that we will all probably have a couple of pints after the game to celebrate a terrific win. The evening will be flexible, with some choosing to have few quiet pints in a local pub, whilst the ‘rowdier’ lot will probably head off into town on the pull.

SUNDAY

Morning/Afternoon- Head off back late morning.

As you may have noticed there is a big social emphasis on the weekend, but you may wish to do your own thing on the weekend, without the use of the official guide!!!

The cost can be spread over a period of months, with the following payment plan available;

December 11th- £30 deposit
January 11th- £30
February 11th- £40

As mentioned earlier, any money left over after costs will be split equally.
